Welcome Home Ragamuffins…
You know, its been a bit since I wrote a message, and not because I didn’t want to give the time to write something because I love to write…but you know, I could write something clever, some cliche or great biblical teaching….but you can find that anywhere….I am here for the broken, the one still shifting their suitcase from hand to hand, unable to grasp or fathom God’s Amazing Grace… I am still trying to answer the question….why God would love THIS wandering Child, and pursue me like He does!?! This is the question of the Ragamuffin…
I titled this message ‘You See Beyond the Noise…’, because my soul is filled with such a great noise, the void that only Christ can fill, I clearly see… I see how desperate this void is for Jesus, and how lonely it is when we don’t allow Jesus into this place in our soul…..when we don’t let him have a permanent place here in our hearts…. This is the shifting suitcase…Jesus wants a permanent place within our heart, but he will not force his way in, he sees the great struggle within, in fact HE makes room for the shifting suitcase as it goes back and forth within our souls….until we arrive at our destination…. We arrive at this place called GRACE, which is at the feet of Jesus…
It is there and there alone that we will finally put the suitcase down, unpack all of our shame, past hurts, mistakes, degraded love, and lay there face in the dirt too weak, too weary to lift our heads…. And it is then that Jesus lifts up our face to His, and says Finally, welcome home…I’ve been waiting….waiting for you to finally let go of the suitcase….I know every moment of this degraded love, shameful moments when you found yourself lost in sin, unable to move….and my response is this…. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28)
You see, God says, I love you just as you are and not as you should be, because we will never be as we should be…. You and I need to come to Jesus just as we are…laying everything down, and only then will we find rest from the noise within our souls…
I wanted to share this song by MercyMe, because it really captivates the theme of this message today…I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you find rest in Christ Jesus, laying your burdens down today, at his feet…
I love you Ragamuffins…and you know what, Jesus Loves You!
